Lakshmi shows so much of this in Sold. She has been bought and all she can do is feel. Being human makes her never able to forget that pain, it will stay with her throughout her whole entire life. No one can forget a traumatic experience like that because of our ability to feel everything. Feel an emotion for every moment during that point of her life. I can't ever even imagine the type of pain and anger someone could feel by going through an experience as awful as that, but being human gives me the chance to feel empathy for that situation.

Feiner Post 2
Being human means a lot. One thing that shows the true meaning behind the word "human" is feeling. Being human means having the ability to show and be able to feel all different kinds of emotions. No matter how many times someone may say that they have no feeling, no depth, and no emotions, I would never believe it. We adapted to have this characteristic that is irreplaceable. You can tell so much from a person by looking at their face and seeing the past pain, anger, and joy.

Totally true about the emotions, and its evident in basically everything. Emotions can dictate the result of conflict, and when someone is honest about emotions usually things feel better.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you used yourself as an example of being human. I think Lakshmi is overwhelmed with emotion. And she doesn't know what to do with feelings she has never felt before. I think when someone has been hurt or been thorough a traumatic experience that they begin to show less emotion. They lose themselves and shut down because they don't want to be hurt again.
