Sarah Davidson Post # 2

Being human are the choices we are able to make, like if we want to go see a movie or go for a walk. The choices we make is the freedom that we have being human. There can be bad choices and good ones since we have the freedom to choose them. But as humans we learn from our mistakes. Without having our freedom to make the choices we want, it makes us less human because freedom is a big part in being human.

In the book Sold by Patricia McCormick, Lakshmi was a 13 year old girl who was force into prostitution. She didn't have the choice to choose what she wanted and was stripped from her humanity by Mumtaz who forced her to sleep with the men. Mumtaz is one of those humans who made bad choices by forcing the girls at the brothel to do things that some didn't want to do. Lakshmi lost the one big thing in being human which was the freedom she had and the choice to choose what she wanted.

  1. I love how you talked about how when she lost her freedom, she was stripped of her humanity. I agree that having the ability to decide is a large part of being human. Not just deciding, but knowing how to do so. I really like the way you thought about that! Great job!
