Aaron Bursten post 3!

In the book Sold by Patricia McCormick Patricia decides to use a gloomy tone. This is odd because Lakshmi throughout the first part of the book, has a auspicious look on things that she sees and encounters. When Lakshmi is sold by her dad into slavery she is very happy because she believes that she will finally be able to make a difference in her family's life. Even though she is leaving her family, she is happy because she wants to see her family flourish. Lakshmi new "uncle" gives her many treats and Lakshmi first though it to send them to her family. "Next time uncle is in a good mood, I will ask him where I can find a mail runner to take the rest of the sweets back home to Ama" Sadly she still doesent realize how bad her life is about to get.
