To be a human is a huge question that means a lot of different things to a lot of people. To be human for me however, is to follow all of the laws that "humans" must follow in whatever place they are in. Humans as opposed to animals, do have laws that they must go by where as animals and other creatures don't really have any so called laws and thats what makes humans special.
In the book Sold by Patricia McCormick, the main character is named Lakshmi is a young girl who is sold into slavery at a very young age. She is treated horribly in India, and treated as a slave. Slavery however is inhumane, meaning it isin't human. Every human should be respected, and in this book she is not treated as a human, just as a slave, almost a pet. It almost
