James Days Post Number Three
The author of Sold, Patricia McCormick, writes with hopeful and sad tone through the book. Lakshmi obviously doesn't know much about the world beyond their mountain like when she describes her step-father coming back from the city, she describes him as, " He is wearing a city coat and a triangle hat, high on one side and low on the other". Not knowing about the city allows her to be tricked into her thinking going to the city is going to be good for the family when it is really on benefiting her step-father and she is getting sold into something way worse than being a maid. The Syntax of Sold is odd and only has small highlights or Lakshmi's day and misses some great details in between.
