kpasternak post #3

Violent, Dramatic,
Scornful, these are some tones that are in the book, Sold. These tones
are used a lot in pages 100 and on, but especially in pages 103-123; this is
when Lakshmi is being drugged and raped because she would not agree to sex. The
author uses very descriptive words and emphasizes feelings. She has very good
images, she elaborates and emphasizes on describing smells and sounds; some images
are sweet and kind, some are fantasy, some are of reality or normal things like
the TV and others are of pain, hurt, and disgrace. The author elaborates a lot on
details, not too much but enough that you feel as if you are there, she leaves
nothing out. From her language she sounds as if that she has a middle school education,
is mature and has been through hell. The sentence structure subjects that the
narrator was writing a journal for herself and not expecting anyone else to
read it.
