Before you even get into this novel, do these pre-reading steps:
1. Read the "Author's Note" at the end of the book.
2. Although you can't do the kind of research that she did - actually going to Nepal and India - do that on the computer. Post one image and one interesting fact that will contribute to our understanding of this book or give us pictures to go with the words. For the fact, cite your source as you discuss it, like this: according to the U.S. State Department, nearly half a million children are trafficked into the sex trade annually.
