georgia deffner post #2

Humans can feel so many different emotions along with some we might not wish to feel. Humans also have certain beliefs that are all very unique which gives us our individuality. It is a human right to be able to state your opinion and express your emotions. Unfortunately some are not given that chance. Those who lack freedom of expression have sadly had a part of their humanity taken from them.

In the book Sold by Patricia McCormick, a young girl loses an extreme amount of her human rights when she is sold into prostitution. She is put into a place called the "happiness house". Mumtaz had beaten and starved her when she ran away from a man and refused to do what Mumtaz says. This girl did nothing wrong and is completely innocent and does not deserve to be treated this way what so ever. She simply stated what she believed was wrong and refused to do it. Mumtaz later drugged her and let men rape her. All of her human rights have pretty much been taken from her along with the rest of the innocent girls that live there. They do not have the freedom to do as they wish and stand up for their beliefs.

  1. I love how you talked about how our beliefs are what help us to be individuals. If everyone believed in the same things, or always had the same emotions, then there would be nothing special about us.
